It is sad, but businesses evolve and grow if they are to survive. Some companies have evolved and prospered (AT&T), others have not (A&P)

They are still trying to sell their patent portfolio. Stock tanked to 47 cents a share and of course I am in for 3700 shares and yes I am down but there's still a chance for some kind of pop in the price should good news change the direction even if temporarily. If it dies on the vine I can still write it off none of which would have happened had I been in Vegas and left the casino empty handed.

They easily could have positioned themselves for a bright future, but instead banked on being the dominant player in a declining industry. Unfortunately, consumer film declined much faster than their plan called for, which caught them out. They banked an awful lot on their commercial printing side on a press called Prosper, which should have been great but just hasn't lived up to the hype yet, and that was the big gamble that was "all in" for EK.
