I have a canon XSi and was asked about upgrading by my husband. I wasn't sure how to answer. What is a good reason to upgrade. What would an upgrade be (T1i, T2i????) I have seen so many. Which ones would you recommend? Which ones would you avoid?

Thanks:confused:

i actaully just made the upgrade from an xsi.

i did alot of research, and was torn between the t3i and the 50d.

the t1i is pretty much the same exact thing as your xsi. the t2i was is pretty much the t3i without the swivel screen.

the 50d, though, is a far better camera than the rebels to most people. much better quality build, better AF/ISO, and ergonomics.

i havent got the 50d yet, still in the mail, but i cannot wait to play around with it.

If you want all the bells and whistles, then look at the 7D. If you want something a little cheaper, but still an upgrade, the 60D would be a fine choice.

Cheaper still would be the T3i or T2i, but wouldn't be as much of a 'upgrade' to what you currently have.

What is a good reason to upgrade.

The best reason, your current body will not do something you need done. Other good reasons:
Old camera broken.
You want a shiny new camera.
Your just tired of your old body.
You are turning professional and the other professionals make fun of you because your camera is small.
And just about any other reason that works for you.

Without not knowing what other equipment you have it's a hard question to answer. Also, what is your budget? What issue are you trying to solve? Need a lot more information to offer a suggestion.

Some feature your current camera doesn't offer.
You feel personally responsible for the bad economy and want to do your part to improve it.
You like gear.

I can't help with what you need/want. There are a lot of choices, pick one and I'm sure you'll be happy.

I have the 18-55IS and the 55-250IS and one other lens I bought inexpensive as an experiment but rarely use.

As for why...I find the recovery time between pics to be slow and my camera is always saying "busy" when I need it to not be "busy". I also have a sony HX1 and love the tiltable screen. Not sure just a suggestion from my husband. He is the type who always wants the "newest" of something. So either he just thinks I do or he is about to justify something he wants to buy. Guess I will find out soon enough. Me I like to research and in this case also poll to find out before I jump in.

Thanks

Better camera = better capabilities and image quality?

Mishymama -

One of the possible reasons for 'slow' recovery between pictures is that the memory card is either slow or nearly full. Like computers, older memory cards tend to be slower than newer ones. Look for something like 30 mb/s or faster. I also discovered that having 2000+ pictures on a 32 gig card, I could take 10-15 shots quickly, then it would sit and do-whatever-it-does doing ???? for 10-20 seconds!

Some food for thought...
