The PCL-1 panning clamp is an excellent piece of gear...use it all the time for leveling and shooting panos. With it, you can level your rig out in a matter of seconds, even on the most uneven terrain without having to adjust each tripod leg separately. A bit on the heavy side (can't imagine the weight with the BH-55 head), but very well made (like all their equipment).

Yup. And I can add a few things in the future if I want to shoot multi-row panoramas. Right now, just single row will be fine for me - but probably use portrait orientation. I haven't really done much with panos as I just haven't had the equipment that I felt was necessary, but I've been wanting to give it a go.

I know people love their gear, it looks built amazingly and the ballhead I've looked at that a friend has is very well built.

Exactly. I bought an L plate and ball head from them a few years ago because I was sick of cheap stuff. I have not been disappointed in the build/durability of their products through all the beating it has endured.

I have a pretty good Manfrotto. But at some point I want to get a carbon fiber. Gitzo maybe. Don't know really.

I had one of those, switched to RRS because of the weight.

We'll have to see how it goes. I certainly won't be getting a $1K tripod anytime soon.

Anyway, order shipped today!

Congrats, I got my BH-55 PCL and some lens plates about 2 months ago. It's very solid (a little heavy but I don't care), high quality materials; you will enjoy it.

Yes, ordering RRS products is a sting to the wallet, but there is none better.
