Sunset views from Belleview Christian College, Westminster, CO. It really looked like it was going to be a stellar sunset which proved wrong, but I tried to make do with what I had.

I've been discussing Luminocity Masks lately and so processed using this technique, though I may try this photo again using other methods.

Also I've decided to try some new things for 2012, one of which is to modify my border. This is the first one out of the chute. If you like or dislike it, please let me know.

Thanks!

I think about the only additional thing I would do for this shot Jon is to clone out the lens flare spots. Using the spot healing brush in 'content aware' mode works great for this.

Have you thought of adding an inner drop shadow to the image to give it a little seperation from the white border?

Thanks for your thoughts Gene!

I thought about removing the lens flare, but ulitmately decided against it. It wasn't that I didn't think of it, but just ambivalent about it.

I did look at the drop shadow and it really changes the look. The way it is now is more like a frame. With the shadow it looks like a wall.

Here's another presentation with your suggestions incorporated. I also moved the web address onto the shot and removed the black strip around the border. With the drop shadow, the borderless frame looks much better on flickr because the background is white. Not sure about here though.

I think this is much better without the spots. As to the drop shadow, it's just a matter of whether you want the look of a matted image with the inner shadow or floating with an outer drop shadow. Either looks good to me.
