Thanks for the Vimeo link. Yeah, I got directed to that drifting BS as well. That was just the next best thing YouTube could come up with. It's blocked here in the states because of the Music probably.
I think you had too many shots with the owners and friends just standing around looking at their cars. The shot where you jibbed past the wheel and then caught someone's shoes on the edge of the frame, not great. I would have cut it before getting to the shoes and then the legs of someone else.
The jib was cool. One of the best things about a jib shot is that it shows smooth camera movement. And the jib was really smooth, well done. But a lot of your shots were very wide and too far away from the subject. The scene where you boomed up past the hand rails was better, forcing perspective like that is probably the best use of a jib. But just getting closer to the cars would help a lot.If the shot is too wide and nothing close to the lens it makes for a bland jib shot. Force things to move (via the camera moving) by getting close.
It also looked like you were shooting pretty closed down. I saw almost no focus roll off or out of focus stuff. The reason people like the look of these cameras is for that shallow DoF stuff. Might as well just shoot with a camcorder otherwise.
I wish you would have played with that puddle of water and the reflection of the car more, that was cool!
