As you have image editing ok turned on here is the same shot with a levels adjustment only bumping up the exposure: I hope this helps, Pete |SportsShooter Member

Great Lens. psurrette wrote in post #13655484 Mark you have some nice even light in these photos but most are still under exposed and dark. Below is a screen shot I took with your last photo open in photoshop with levels open. You are under exposed by almost a full stop. I hope this helps, Pete Pete thanks for the input on these. I have been monitoring the recent water sports threads your captures are great! Mark Weaver

I am new with experimenting with pp. I have photoshop cs5, and also lightroom 3. The absolute best way is to get exposure right in camera. That is much easier said than done under some circumstances. Especially BBall in dimly lit gyms with no strobes. My workflow is to shoot RAW, import into Lightroom. In the develop module of lightroom you should always work from the top down. Adobe has done all the work to put the controls in the proper order so white balance first then to exposure etc down the line. Sharpening and Noise Reduction last. I then export to photoshop, not sure why, but I prefer to crop in photoshop. Once I crop I always re-look at the levels there and if I need to make and adjustments I will add a layer mask and use curves only if needed then make final levels adjustment. My one reason for the last two steps is if I crop and take out a really bright area of the photo, my exposure adjustment made in lightroom may not be the best adjustment for my crop. This is just and example of my work flow. Hopefully others can chime in with different opinions! MSW wrote in post #13657502 Pete thanks for the input on these.
