Hi, I'm new to IPS monitors and now run into a question. Can someone give me a suggestion?

I've just got a cheap LG IPS236 from eBay for $160. It's a refurbished copy. I tested it with Dead Pixel Test and found no dead pixel. However, when it's supposed to be totally black, there is a spot, about 0.5 x 0.25 inches near the middle that is only very dark blue. It's not distinguishable when I don't need it to be black. Even when it's supposed to be totally black, it's not very obvious (but certainly it's not hard to notice).

The CD-ROM that comes with the monitor doesn't work. I'm not sure if I could ask for a replacement or refund. The seller only says that I could get a replacement in case of dead pixel. For other return, I may need to pay the shipping. Further, I checked that that seller doesn't have any more LP IPS236 in stock.

Should I live with this cheap IPS monitor? As an IPS monitor, a defect like this seems very bad. Right?

Or should I try to get a replacement (back ordered)? Or should I ask for a partial refund?

That is a pretty large area that is affected. I'm not sure what I would without actually seeing it. How often will your images or other work be displaying total black in this area. Keep in mind that you images won't be affected by this, it is only the display. I would talk to the supplier and if they woul pay for the shipping on everything I would return it. It's really a judgement call you have to make based on how bad it is and how much it will bother you while working.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Upon checking it again, I'm afraid 0.5 x 0.25 is exaggerated. It should be like a mark made by a very big pen. Maybe 0.25 x 0.125 is more accurate. (Sorry, I don't have a ruler nearby.) I don't often need photo editing with a totally black area. Hard to decide.
