I went up to the Lake today, the air temp was about 60°F and the water was about 52-53°F. I was on the way to a favorite spot when I saw this snake swimming across in front of me. I turned around and followed it to the bank to take some photos, sorry, only had my phone camera rather than the Canon. It was moving really slow in the cold water and had swam from the sunny side to the shaded South bank. I estimate the length about 5 feet and it looked like a rat snake or some other constrictor, a cold one! I've never seen one swimming this late in the year.
