im plannin on pickin up a 300 2.8 IS L soon and would like to see real life pictures of the lens itself next to other lenses or objects for sake of comparison. I have seen a lot of pictures but usually just solos. I want to get a feel for how big/small it is.

Why don't you go to a local pro camera shop. There you can not only look at one, but you can pick it up, caress it, and even take photos with it.

This is the only shot I have of mine.

You'll love that lens. It is by far the sharpest lens I have.

That picure is disgustingly awesome. I would have a heart attack and explode into a million pieces if I saw that under the tree next month.

I've seen a lot of nice pictures in this forum, but that is probably my favorite. Great composition.

Nice picture, but not exactly true, do I see a green strip on the one suggesting it is a 300 2.8L, looks remarkably like a 400 DO to me....

Mark , closest pro camera shop only sells canon kit lens. Im not in Chicago anymore, about 40 miles away.

SolPics, yep saw that a bunch of times...still not really the best way to see how big it is. Because, I dont know how big the 500 L and 600 L , how will I know how big the 300 2.8 is lol

ssim, haha I saw that pic in pbase.com's search function!
what a sexy collection.

possibly take shots of it near furniture or a person ? :D
would appreciate it

I've posted this before. Hopefully this will give you an idea of the size.
My friend using it with his 300D plus the 2X & 1.4X.
