C&C appreciated. I think I'm finally getting used to the length of the 70-200. Still, not my best game as far as timing/luck, but my Vols pulled the upset, so I'm happy. Didn't get as much action as I would have liked.

Shot with Canon 400d and Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM.

Thanks.

Here's one more... I meant to have it instead of the first one.

Excellent shots! Very crisp. I love the separation between your subject and bg. What lens was used?

So I just read your initial post and I apologize for not reading it right away. I'm guilty of skimming through posts, one after another, until something catches my eye. This one caught my eye. Now that I see what gear you used, and the results that you managed to achieve, I'm really impressed. It's nice when people using (and I don't mean to offend you at all) "budget minded gear" know their tools inside and out and pump out results, as you have. Your focus was spot on. I image you used center point focus and servo? My gf has the same camera and I own the 7D so I know the difference in tracking is like night and day. Enough babbling. You did very well :) Keep shooting and sharing!

Really like the shots! Some definitely better than others, you missed the focus on the first shot, and I would have deleted / not shot the one of their backs, to me faces are pretty important in basketball. Action wise the last one is your best, but my favorite is the coach shot. This is just personal preference, but all of your shots are in portrait orientation, try mixing it up with both landscape and portrait shots. Vertical basketball shots seem to be the only thing people are doing, and it is nice to see some different types of shots.

Thanks! And no offense taken. Yep, center point, servo & back-button focus.

Thanks for the feedback. I try shooting in landscape, but it seems like I have trouble getting interesting compositions. Focus is tough too... I might try moving the focus point to the right or left on landscape shots? Maybe I should take off the vertical grip and try and force myself to experiment some. The one of Billy Donovan was my favorite as well.

I was just looking at my camera, and I realized I had it on Single shooting AND One shot AF for the game...I thought it seemed a little slower than usual.

Just wanted to add to this as I shoot with the same lens and have become very pleased with it for the price I got it for.

Great shots!
