I have always found Canon camera manuals a real pain in the a**! So in an attempt to ease the pain with my newest body, I've printed out the whole thing in A4 and bound it up in hardback form.

This does not alter the fact that Canon seem incapable of explaining anything in a way that I understand, but at least I can see and hold the thing comfortably.

I have done the same thing for my last three cameras. The pocket book goes in the camera bag for emergencies when I need a quick answer.

I do pretty much same the thing also. I just bind mine though, so they are really a paperback :>;). Much easier to read and reference.

As a side note, the pdf's that canon produces make very good epub books. IMO pdfs on ebook readers don't work well. I just convert the pdf to epub and load it on my nook. I can also bookmark it with items I reference a lot.

This shows the progression of Canon's cheaping out on camera manuals.

When I bought my D60, it came with a nice 6"x 8" manual. When I replaced it with a 20D, I noticed the manuals had shrunk by half to 4"x 5.5". This was also the case with my 40D. When I was given a G12 for Christmas, all I got was a flimsy little "Getting Started" guide (which didn't tell me anything I already didn't know) and a CD with all the manuals and software in it...
