Hey Everyone,

I was wandering if anyone had information about rumors of a new canon lens that would feature the following:

a big range of focal length (24-300)
a fast lens (2.8 f )
and most importantly a combination of IS technology...

If anyone has heard that canon would come up with such a lens shortly to compete with some of Nikon's lenses... It would greatly be appreciated or any information regarding canon releasing new lenses (not EF-S).

Cheers xx

And very heavy if it is a fixed f2.8.

It would be hit and miss in image quality with a range from 24-300.

There is no reason it would be any worse than the 35-350 which has a pretty good reputation. It could not be very compact if it is f/2.8. Have a look at the size of the 300/2.8 prime lens.

Considering the 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L is $2200 and weighs 3.7 lbs, I could only imagine how expensive and heavy an f/2.8 version would be.
