Yes, everyone has been right... Photo B is the 550D and A is the S100.

I think michaelnel brings up a good point about a couple of the photos... if we were going to just do snapshots like these then what's the use of buying a DSLR.

So, I've uploaded the landscape photograph in RAW format, and it is .zipped.
Anyone is welcome to download the RAW file and do a little post processing to see what they can get out of all that extra data.

Do keep in mind that it's been a low overcast dreary rainy kind of day, so there isn't much to work on.

I'll post my best effort of turning this rather bad photograph into the a masterpiece.... lol I'm interested in seeing someone elses best efforts..

First set: A S100, B 550D. The first shot looks softer overall the second shot you can see the detail better of the things on the mantel.

second set: A S100, B 550D. Again the second shot has more detail in the fences and houses. The trees almost look like P&S though, a tad over sharpened. A bit harder to judge than the first set.

I'm not 100% sure on these though, interested to find out the results!

no no no no..... :p I'll keep my DSLR... The S100 is mainly for the wife. What I've found by these comparisons is that point and shoot is much better. Mabye the next DSLR generation will increase the gap again.

Okay... I'm loosing so much sharpness when I downsize the image to 1024X768. The RAW image is quite sharp, so I'm not sure what I'm doing in PSP to loose that much detail.

Anyhow, this should look better....

This is the link to the RAW image from the downsized shot below. I'm currious to see anyone else that wants to have a crack at pulling out the colors and resizing.

Not a chance. I really like my S100 and it's very good at high ISOs, so I will be using it MUCH more than my previous P&S cameras. However maybe I just need more practice, but indoor shots with the flash still look like a P&S, I can get so much more creative with a DSLR and a real flash. For outdoor shots, vacations and such, I think i will be using the S100 more from now on.
