I am loving my 600d but i recently discovered one of its 'shortfalls'. When i bought the camera i had no plans of shooting sports, except for in video mode, but ive now discovered it to be quite fun trying to time your shot and shoot sequences. Which leads me to my point. How can I get the most out of my cameras burst mode? Is is affected by the lens I'm using, or the type of focus? I made this today:

I used these settings:

Manual exposure
Continuous Shooting
fine/jpg
AI Focus AF centre point (would servo have been better?)
1/3200
f3.5
iso1600

Now don't get me wrong, the bust mode was bloody quick, but did I have my camera set to make the most of continuous shooting in this situation?

I notice the 60d is rated at 5.3fps, and the 600d 4.7fps. Would i notice the difference in reality? I was on a budget to begin with, so it would be a real stretch to try and attain a 60d now. I need to determine whether or not I would really see the benefits of the 60d in continuous shooting compared to my 600d.

I hope someone can provide a bit of an insight. Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, the 600D is 3.7 seconds. If you're looking to do more "action" shots, then I would considering up to the 60D since it's fairly close in price. However, if you're able too, the 7D would be ideal.

Oops, 3.7! I must have misremembered that. So that is quite a drastic difference. Thanks for the correction. I definitely could nto afford a 7d. To afford a 60d, i'd have to sell my 600d and save a bit of money over the next couple of months. Hmmm.

I'm still interested in whether I'm utilising the 600d to its best abilities, whether I had it set correctly, or if I am being a dunce and missed something?

Thanks.

Center focus point is good. Switch to AI Servo. Don't have any personal experience but shutter and ISO seem excessively high.
