Hello gents,

Is there a device that you can hook up to a EOS camera that will keep it from going to sleep? Looking to set up a camera and trigger it after a long period of time.

Wouldn't triggering the shutter wake it up?

What you actually want is a remote shutter / timer / intervalometer. Lots of different models to choose from.

Well, all the EOS from about 20D onward wake up almost instantaneously... So I'm not sure why you wouldn't just let it go into sleep mode and save the battery charge for shooting.

But if you insist, as Anke wrote, you can go into the menu to Auto Power Off and change/extend the time before it does to sleep or even set it to Off, so that the camera remains awake.

I was watching a video by Chase Jarvis

http://www.youtube.com …DskIh3XKPcos1bG8HUZWmbUap (external link)

At about 4:30 seconds he mentions a device that keeps his Nikon D3S awake and on stand by. Wondering what the point of that device is.

For my purposes the menu options you guys mentioned will do the trick. Whats going on with this hardware Mr. Jarvis has going on?

Is it because you dont want the camera to go to sleep, and then waking it up to see that the changes have been brought back to the default state? Cuz I hate when it sleeps, and it resets that... How to change that?
