Recent announcements of 1DX and D4 can give some indication on what we can expect from 5D MKIII and D800 respectively.

But....it might not be exactly as it was with D700 and 5D MKII where Canon went to put high MP sensor from 1Ds MKIII and Nikon did the same with Pro AF.

What would make the trick this time?

I read rumors the 5dm3 will have the same 18mp sensor as the 1dx, with a lower frame rate and marginally improved AF

I read that it will rain a rare species of amazonian monkeys when the 5Dm3 is announced. Irrelevant? Yes, just like this thread. Nobody knows what is going to be in the next Canon 5D, so it's pointless to have threads guessing like these. At least post it in the Rumors section.

I am curious to see where they go with these models. Will they go super high res to appease the megapixel crowd (probably at the expense of noise).

Or will they use the big boy sensors and just limit things a bit to keep them under their flagship models. Nikon normally doesn't do this as much as Canon, but I wonder if they'er going to go this route with the new D4.

Questions still... will the D4 be like the 1DX, will there be a D4s or a D4x? Will there be a 1Dxs?

From 5D MKIII...I personally would want to get the following:
1. A bit better build quality than MKII
2. LCD with better resolution
3. IQ that will give more details
4. Higher ISO (1-2 stops)

It can be 16 MP...I guess...can we 21...or whatever...I do not know whether more is needed.

What can we expect? I'm going out on a limb here but I'll say this with all confidence that the 5D Mk III will be more expensive than the 5D Mk II. Mark my word;-)a

Kind of a contradiction, don'cha think? More details with less resolution?

Maybe, I am not the expert. In this case it is strange that 1DX will have less details than 1Ds MKIII

5Diii will have all the AF and tracking speed of the 7D and will increase to 24mp and 8fps.

Ahh, another speculation thread about two non-existing cameras. Don't you people have better things to do like going outdoors and shooting pics instead of guessing about rumors.
