Media Cards for the Canon & Nikon :

Question: How do they work with each camera? I understand they both can accept CF and SD cards. I think they each have one slot for each, correct? Can you have each card in the camera? If so, how does it know which to write to and will it go to the other card if one is filled?

I'm interested in how both the Canon and Nikon handle this.

Here are the card recording options that come on the 5DIII...and I am pretty sure that the D800 options are very similar if not identical.

Standard: Images will be recorded to the card selected.

Auto switch card: Same as above but if the first card becomes full, the camera will automatically switch to the second card to continue recording images.

Record separately: Allows you to set the image recording type for each card. So you can have RAW files record to one card and have a JPEG backup recorded simultaneously to the second card.

Record to multiple: Each image is recorded to both the CF and SD card simultaneously at the same image size and quality.

If Canon really are going to come out with their own super-resolution camera they had better get a move on. Once people have bought a D800 they won't be going back.

5D & 7D (both gripped), 24-105L, 100-400L, 15-85, 50 f1.8, Tamron 28-75, Sigma 12-24, G10, EX-Z55 & U/W housing, A1+10 lenses, tripods, lighting gear, etc. etc.

They need the DR to go with it as well...

My biggest complaint about the D800 so far is the battery life. I have a feeling the EN-EL15 batteries will be in short supply once others realize this.

It's all good, I don't mind at all ;)
Congrats on your D800! :D

She said she will have more coming, I have a feeling that a local store will deliver faster than B&H at this rate lol
And I ordered next day 7:00am after the announcement
