Big concerns for me, are low-light focusing, Live View in the dark, long I've got an Eye-Fi card allowing me to view instant previews on my iPad while in the field.

How is that working out?

Which part? I'm very happy with the 5D3 on almost all accounts and the Eye-fi stuff is just plain awesome. There is something to be said about seeing your image right off the sensor while standing out in a field in the middle of nowhere... and especially seeing your image on an IPS panel with a resolution larger than even in my home studio. 8-)

It takes about 3 seconds or so to transfer the image and using Shuttersnitch, it's incredibly powerful. I can rate an image while in the field. Get home, open up Aperture and my images are already rated. I can then send the image to my FTP server if I wish, or email it, etc..

I have it set up to use selective images, so not all my images transfer to the iPad. If I want it on the iPad, I simply press the "rate" button while the image is previewed on the rear LCD and about 3 seconds later it shows up on the iPad. Awesome.

Does it transmit raw files or jpgs?

Either or both...

I have it set to only transfer small jpegs, since they're the smallest and fastest. The small jpg is still larger than the resolution of the iPad, so it's perfect. I only use them for previewing and rating and when I get back home or done with the session, I just wipe the card.

Damn, that's really nifty.

Or we can keep on trashing the "enemy's" system. It's both cheaper and makes us feel better about our own... :D

Nah. That isn't a very nice thing to do. ;)

It's funny how personal it becomes with Nikon and Canon.

I usually care less what others shoot. I am usually just stoked to see other people with cameras, especially when they make the effort to get to the same places at crazy hours. :)

I had one guy walk up to me out in the woods. He saw my tripod and asked Nikon or Canon. I replied Canon. He then just walks off and says we're not friends. Very strange.

I would've called out "FANBOY!" :lol::lol:;)

.

Agree! Last night at like 10PM, had a large group of car owners show up for a "Cars and Cameras" photography session; half the guys shoot one camera system or another, and I think most of us were more geeked over the cameras than the cars! One friend just got his D800, another his Sony A77, one guy was shooting a 5D2, another a Rebel, and me w/ my 5D3...

Basically, this silly rivalry is only relevant on teh interwebs. In real life, photographers I've met are more interested in how to get an excellent shot and learning technique more so than the brand emblazoned on the camera body.

Eye-Fi is a ton of fun to use, and great for previewing in the field. I don't use an iPad, but send stuff to my iPhone and then post to Facebook and Flickr. If only I could figure out how to post from Flickr to POTN, as there doesn't seem to be a way on the iPhone to grab an image link

I'm set up the same way, with the Rate button being the designated "transmit" button, otherwise the camera will auto-transmit every photo you take. It's a great setup!

Well, I finally broke down and did it. My 5D3 is on the way. I'm not sure I would have upgraded so soon, but I've been doing more photography of late where accurate focusing is much more important. I never needed a good AF system when I was only doing landscape shooting.

I thought about going with the D800, but the thought of getting all new lenses just seemed like a mess. Plus, high ISO performance is still important to me, and even though the 5D3 and D800 are pretty damn close any edge the 5D3 has is a nice bonus.
