I made my own quick release strap like you describe I used small "S-biner" hooks made of metal that have self closing clasps on each opening, REI sells them in their stores if you are close to one. They are very tiny and I clip them to my Canon neck strap and to adapt-it's on the camera. I leave my hand strap on the body so if I need to attach a neck strap it's two clips and done.

This is what they look like but I could not find eht size 0 in metal.

Do those metal carabiners scratch up your screen? I've seen a couple of threads about scratching with metal parts of straps against the screen and have given me pause from doing exactly what you have...

They don't even reach the screen.

I don't have a direct link for you but you can find anything you want and much more here:
http://www.strapworks.com/ (external link)
I've ordered here before for random little parts and had good experience, the only issue is that shipping for a couple little parts can be a price killer

Here's the first part that came up in a search:
http://www.strapworks.com …vel_Snap_Hooks_p/pshs.htm (external link)
There should be more choices if you dig around though

Strapworks is fast, and very reasonable on price & shipping. Their plastic swivel hooks come in many sizes. They seem to be identical to those on my Lowepro stuff. I use them because they're secure and scratch free on my gear.

My local True Value hardware store carries the S-biner hooks, both in a stainless steel and plastic version.
