I bought an Einstein a few weeks ago, shortly after which I managed to break it. It was my own fault, should have had some sandbags down. The light came down along with the octobox. One of the fingers that holds the light modifier snapped off and the flash tube took its last breath.

Paul C Buff being the amazing company that they are didn't change me at all to replace the unit. I even mentioned that I had dropped the lighting on the repair form. I'm not sure why they did this, but I sure am thankful. They have made a loyal customer out of me and I just wanted to sing their praises. All hail Paul C Buff!

Honestly... Paul C. Buff is a very smart business man. He obviously knows that the Einstein had a terrible launch and makes up for it by offering the best customer service, bar-none, making his products an absolute no-brainer for anyone on a budget.

This is good stuff to hear, and not the first time I have read about a similar experience here.

I was going back and forth whether to grab an AB800, but I just purchased my 2nd speedlite (580EX II) instead, mainly for portability that I want right now. However, I think that some AB strobes are in my future!

Mr Buff made lots of claims early on and when he is unable to deliver the goods he blamed everything but himself. The guy is banned on most forums for a reason as he can't take single a drop of criticism ever. Eventually he seems to deliver the goods but most people don't have a year or five for physical working products to materialize. So if he claims to be releasing a new product by next year what he probably means is you can expect it sometime around 2015. There were some flaws with the Einstein which you can search on the forum and read about.

Paul has always engendered a commitment to customer service, and his company was well known for it long before the launch of the Einstein.

I remember he disappeared from Fred Miranda a while ago. I purchased cybersyncs last year and they work fine. No issues with anything.

Keep in mind what most people refer to the Einstein today, is actually version 2 of the Einstein.. V1 had some serious issues.. and V1 was released long after his well touted 'Alien Bees Max' line that never emerged, and eventually morphed into Einstein v1.
