Taken last summer with my old S3IS. Processed with Machinery Effects and small adjustments made in PSE5.

Is it acceptable, or does it look overcooked?

Any C&C is welcome.

Again 'acceptable' is in the eye of the beholder. To me, it looks more like a painting than a photograph. I like it the way that it is, but I'm betting you will get some overcooked comments.

I like it. I think HDR to me is supposed to show a more interesting result than what you actually saw with your eye, but I like that sort of thing. Maybe it would of been fine with less detail or structure added to the rocks, but whatever. The Purists will say it is too much, but they are boring.lol This is an art form and I really do not think there is a right or wrong way to do it. If you like it that is what matters. A lot of people love Andy Warhol, but I think his stuff is god awful. Does my opinion matter? Nope. Would he care? Nope.lol

Anyway I think it is a cool pic. Not that my opinion matters:)

You managed to extract a lot of detail out of that LDR shot...it's very impressively sharp, but as that water is raging, I'm assuming you've not taken multiple exposures to capture a wider DR than what your camera can manage with a single shot, without a huge amount of work to realign the separate images. So, it's NOT HDR, really (Unless I'm mistaken with my assumption above).

But, having said that....it's an impressively sharp and very contrasty image, and I'm sure it will appeal the the majority here.

Just not to me, because I'm a boring old guy. For ME, it's over-processed... :)

PS..I'd love to see it run through SNS-HDR with the "default" profile. I think it would look amazing, even if it's not HDR!

I truly appreciate your feedback. Even if you are a boring old guy;)!!!

I do prefer the SNS-HDR version myself, but it's still a little "busy" for me.

BTW, was this the default profile (on the left?)

If so, the "Natural" profile may look more realistic and believable as a photo. (But of course, if you want an art/painting feel, then your initial post is better)

Yes, this was the default profile. Actually went back and played a little more. If you want a less busy feeling to it, the Neutral profile is probably the one you want.

Thank you! I may purchase it. Adjustments were easy to make, which is a plus.

SNS is a great program, I use it all the time! Was you get the hang of using the layer masks and sliders, you can do a lot with that program that PM simply doesn't even come close to.
