Oh wow a 40-15 F2.8 that is just way too tempting when is that supposed to come out

It was fairly fast... I did not find it slow at all. I tried focusing it on a guy who was doing exhibitions on a bicycle and I think it can keep up. The tire shot above was taken while he was moving.

Thanks very much, that's great to know. I could get the 50-200mm now, but I'd really like to know more about the 40-150mm before I decide. Wish there was more information out there.

Well a used 50-200mm is around $750, and you can be fairly sure that the new 40-150 2.8 will be at least a grand based on the 12-40 price, more likely $1500-1800. And it is supposed to be out late next year if I read correctly. And it is an effective 100mm shorter on the long end.

Also, once the E-M1 comes out, with the free adaptor promotion, and the PDAF, the price of 4/3rds lenses will probably increase as more people see them as a legitimate alternative.

Yes, I agree with you on both the price of the new lens and that prices of 4/3 lenses will start to go up. I've seen that happening with legacy lenses ever since micro four thirds came out. That's why I bought into the system in the first place, I had a few Zeiss lenses from my Contax 35mm that I didn't want to see sitting around unused. Since then, I've collected some old Canon FD lenses and I'll even use my EF 400mm f5.6 L on it. I love the flexibility.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Get the 12-40 if you plan on using the zoom more than a prime. The 12-50 is very versatile but slow. It's only 3.5 at the widest focal length, go to 13mm and its already t f/3.6. Outside in good light it's not bad, but trying to shoot indoors and you're at f/6.0 isn't easy.

The 40-150mm will not be out until end of 2014 or something so there's plenty of time to buy and use the 50-200mm first.

yes since I already have the Panasonic 12-35.....

I guess that means I will sell the 12-50 with the em5....I forgot I bought the kit originally, lol.

won't ship until "early October." hopefully that's more oct 1 than oct 14.....

Yes that's correct early October for the Body.
Late October for the Kit with 12-40mm.
Mid to late November for the 12-40mm lens alone.

Pretty pumped for the E-M1 release, I've been using the newly acquired E-P5 in NYC for last few days and I'm perfectly happy with it. The Leica gear will be going up for sale when I get home in a few days and with end up with a two body Olympus setup for travel.

Camera land in NYC was offering a $2,199 kit price a few days ago, but i dont see it listed anymore, but maybe they will honor it if you call and ask. but you don't get the free accessory.
