Olympus OM Micro Four Thirds camera!

I have had an Em-1 for a while now. I really do love it. It is one of the best overall cameras I have used. Everything is so responsive and quick. I have had a wandering eye and tried a NEX and X100, but I keep coming back to Olympus. The sensor size is not really as issue for me. I love how small the lenses are. The 45 and 17 are tiny. You can stick them in a coat pocket and cover about everything you would want to shoot of you are just wandering about.

I think m4/3 represents the best compromise right now in terms of size and image quality for me. Fuji is coming out with some beautiful stuff, but I think I would miss Olympus's autofocus. It is reliable and fast. An in-focus image is indefinitely sharper than an out of focus shot.

Fuji and Sony are saying that theirs is the fastest, and it might be, but they have made those claims before and missed in my experience.

Good to hear. I'm looking at pretty much going in 2 directions... I think I will invest in m4:3 with general photography, and underwater photography. After a fair bit of using my girlfriend's EP-5, the built in IS is just making life incredibly easy.

I'll keep a few select lenses from my Canon kit, and move to full frame for when I really need that full frame style image. It means I'll also happily wait for Canon to develop some new tech, rather than constantly be grumpy about the hit/miss AF on my 7D, and that damn AA filter that may as well be a layer of baking paper on the sensor.

Anyway, the EM-1 is looking the goods, and the 17 and 45 lenses are pretty much my target lenses - along with the macro.

That should set me up nicely for my general travel and diving needs.

Just found this thread after picking up an E-M1 a few weeks ago. Got there on a bit of a impulse after reading a review on the camera and then playing with one in a local camera store. Information came at a weak moment after having just been disappointed with my EOS-M at a surprise birthday party for my son and suffering from AF speed and dealing with just an LCD screen.

I loved my EOS-M, got it for the size and weight to take on motorcycle road trips. Just had too many instances of it's AF weaknesses when it comes to candids and moving subject shots. I had heard good things about the Oly AF and loved the idea of a viewfinder, great IQ and "all around" features in the small size/weight of the m4/3 format.

I played with an E-M10 for a few days and figured it would work for most of my everyday needs, but decided if I was going to move I wanted to go top shelf, something I could never afford with Canon So I bought the E-M1 and the 12-40mm and some other glass and haven't looked back.

I am keeping my 6D and my primes and am on the fence about keeping my 1D3. I sold the EOS-M and most of my zooms. Also sold the G15 and SX50.

I sold my 5D Mark II to fund the E-M1 and a7R, but I kept my EF 400mm f5.6L. I'm trying to get a feel for using it on the E-M1 now, but I'll probably sell it if something native with autofocus comes along. I was a little slow on the last one, he was getting past me by the time I got him in focus.

EM-1 is truelly an impressive camera right now i'm eying the Panasonic 100-300, would give me 200-600mm range.

I have the Panasonic 100-300mm. I haven't tried it much with the E-M1 yet, I mostly used it with my GF1 at the beach. It's not a bad lens for what it costs.

would you say is one of the "better" native telephoto m43 lenses?

Well, if you're looking for a long lens, it's one of the "only" native telephoto m43 lenses. That's why I'm making do with my EF 400mm. If you go to mu-43.com and read through some of the posts, you'll find opinions split pretty closely over which telephoto is better - the 100-300mm Panasonic, or the 75-300mm Olympus. There really aren't any other options unless you go shorter or go with a 4/3 lens. I'll try the lens on the E-M1 this weekend and let you know. Tracking with the 100-300mm on the GF1 isn't good, but I work around it by simply not trying to have the camera track the bird. I pump the shutter release instead, forcing it to refocus rather than trying to maintain focus. It seems to work better that way.

For E-M1, I would suggest to look at Olympus Four Thirds 50-200mm F/2.8-3.5 (non-SWD is cheaper than SWD version, but optically they are the same I believe). It would be slow on previous m4/3 bodies but pretty fast on E-M1 due to a better support of 4/3 lenses. I had Panasonic 100-300mm and it is ok for the price.

I bought the MMF3 planning to also buy the 50-200mm, but I really want the 40-150mm f2.8 that was shown at the time the E-M1 was released. I rarely shoot anything longer these days. I only get the EF 400mm out when I get bored.

I rarely need long zoom as well. For my needs now, Olympus nifty-one-fifty is enough for now. But yes, that f2.8 zoom looks very nice. Hope it will be s good as 12-40mm.

out of 5DIII, E-M1, E-M5, A7 and A7r my EM-1 is the favorite camera.

I'm keeping my 100L... For the day Canon make a knock them all dead full frame DSLR again, in the mean time, it should be fun attached to the EM-1 in manual mode.

Looking forward to the new system. Was kind of sad to see the 7D go this morning, but a young kid (about 13 or so) bought it to shoot surfing - so I am quite excited for him, and I hope he goes far with it!

As for me, I'll give the EM-1 a good workout at the Songkran festival in Bangkok. Should be awesome!!!
