Please give me a FF OM-1(D) DSLR and not micro 4/3 Olympus ... and especially not something that resembles an OM camera with a electronic viewfinder!

A camera like this with FF will certainly be expensive. Too bad it won't happen.

To make more money maybe? I'm sure there are more Oly fans than just me that can't be bothered with a M43 DSLR.

It sure is too bad. If there was a FF OM DSLR that was a fully automatic/AF version of my old OM-1MD I'd most likely sell all of my Canon and Nikon gear.

I do like the idea though. Maybe throw in a 1.3X crop sensor. ;)

1.3 would be ok I suppose. But to get that true OM experience nothing beats the big bright viewfinder of the OM-1 :D. It was the best camera I've ever owned, and if it had AF I'd still be using it.

Been looking for a smaller carry everywhere camera to go along with my 7D. Like the look and style of that camera, plus it does remind me on my old OM-1md camera. :)

Suggestions welcome.

New sensor + built-in EVF + weather sealing = not nostalgic looking E-P3.

Where'd you get the price anyway? Hope that doesn't turn out to be real.

That was on the most recent speculative article I could find on it.

The EVF is a plus and if they use the Panny 16MP, that will be an upgrade. For some reason, the newer Oly 12MP sensor wasn't any better noise-wise than the old one. The Panny 16MP seems to be an improvement though. I'd still prefer to see this UNDER $1k, if I was to consider it.

Agree. No matter what new tech they put into this camera it's still going to be M43 and have an EFV. Sad to see that Oly is going to market it with the OM branding. Maybe going the gimmicky route is the only way they can see staying in business.

Latest spec leak says 9 frames per second. What do you want to bet there's an asterisk next to it that says AF is off when shooting 9 fps?

I don't see it as gimmicky. Nothing wrong with taking inspiration from past successes. Olympus have a long and proud history, and it's smart of them to take cues from their past. Strike a good balance between some of what made the old OM series great combined with their current technology and we could have a really nice camera on our hands. I'm waiting for full specs but am cautiously optimistic.

Besides, how many units do you really think they'll sell based on the OM branding alone? This camera will live or die on its merits, not its name.

I use the Panasonic G1, a micron 4/3 camera. Personally, I love it and really enjoy the fact that it has a doubling effect on the range of any lens you can use an adapter with. For example, A 45-150 I have actually functions like a 90-300.

I am one of many photographers in Pittsburgh PA (external link) who loves to explore my craft and learn from others while doing so. my biggest passion is shooting goth pics (external link) and material of a darker nature.
