Olympus OM Micro Four Thirds camera!

Finally got out with the E-PL5, and the sensor is really, really, nice. With the Pan45, I don't feel like I'm losing much, IQ-wise, compared to my 5D3. A couple from yesterday morning, just at breakfast and outside my door...

^^^^^ Nice pictures . I agree the Em5 sensor ( same in EPL5) is amazing. Not sure if it's comparable to 5D3 as I dont have a chance to really shoot with the 5D3. But the Oly's IQ is sure comparable or even better than the 7D/60D.

Just received my silver/black EM-5 with the 12-50 kit lens.
initial image quality is quite good! quite surprised by low light/high iso performance despite such a small sensor.

Yup. Ditched my 5Dc, 135L, 17-40L, and a few others. I miss the 135L greatly, but love the smaller camera and addition of video.

If you love the 135L, why not try the Olympus 75mm 1.8? Its equal to 150mm so will be a touch longer than the 135L but is even faster at f/1.8...

Aperture conversions between 35mm equiv and m43 don't work that way

And I wish I had $900 to drop on a lens, but I don't at the moment.

Few shots from my trip to Cayman Island with my OM-D. Was traveling really light with just a kit 12-50mm lens and Panasonic 20mm prime.

I'm getting sucked in once again. Just ordered a 60mm macro and the 7-14. Will sell my Canon 100mm and Sig 12-24. Where narrow DOF is actually a drawback, I think the M4/3 will be better than Canon. The Oly with the 7-14 attached is actually smaller (and probably lighter) than the 12-24, so when I want to go wide, I can just pop it out of my bag and won't even need to switch lenses

Lately I haven't been dreaming about those dreamy crazy thin bokeh from FF DSLR .

Yeah, I'll never switch completely over. If I could trade my 5D3 for a 5Dc, and get back 90% of what I paid for the body and my lenses, except maybe my 135 and 50 1.4, right now I think I would leap at it.
One reason I sold off my m4/3 gear in the past was because the competing mirrorless systems were coming up so fast, The Nex, Samsung, fuji, etc, and I was worried M4/3 would end up in the dust, and I would be left with 2K of obsolete gear. However, this new sensor and the new lenses that keep emerging are holding their own and then some.

m4/3 definitely has the best lens selection and that is showing no signs of slowing down. As for the new sensor, m4/3 wasn't good enough before now, but for me the current Sony sensor Olympus uses is very good and more than good enough. Honestly when Olympus kept recycling that old 12MP sensor for a few years and the whispers were that Panasonic were holding back on their best tech I wasn't sure if Olympus would be able to climb out of their image quality hole, but sure enough they finally have thanks to their collaboration with Sony. m4/3 is now a very, very attractive system.

Now if somebody could just tell the U.S. market that there's this thing called "Micro 4/3"...

People still have misconceptions about it and mirrorless camera in general. On another forum it's always the same people (that from the looks of it don't own a mirrorless camera) that complain how sensor performance is lacking, they have less DOF, longer apparent field of view, worse AF, etc... when some of those are not true or something that could be considered a want of some photographers.

I'm going to be shooting a music video in the next month for a friend's band and I'm probably going to try using the OM-D since a shallower DOF that I get with my 5D MKII will be a liability along with the smaller sensors having less of a jello effect to them.
