This is my third NEC EA231WMI (second replacement)

My first NEC monitor had a color cast, they replaced it. That replacement's backlight failed, and this is the replacement for that. This monitor has a color cast like my first one.

I sent this image to their tech support

Dear Chris,

The photo again shows that the panel is within specs. The panel is not
designed for use in photo editing, which is what is making this appear more
pronounced to you. It is not a defect of the unit and we cannot exchange it
for you at this time.

For models that suit your needs better, please look on our website:

The P-Series would be the best for photo editing and graphics design.

Thank you,

Even browsing the web the cast is driving me NUTS! What would you do in this situation?

Hmm, not sure what kind of feedback/input/advice you are looking for -- if NEC Support says it's in spec and they won't exchange it, well...

I'm not familiar with the monitor. I did a quick check and it looks to be a "mid-range consumer" monitor, priced at under $300, so I wouldn't expect a lot from it. People here seem to be paying anywhere from $400 up to, well, over $1000 for their photo editing monitors.

As to driving you "NUTS" when browsing the Web, I don't know what to suggest. I have a cheap laptop and I have a cheap $150 consumer monitor at this time (my good one died recently) and I am for now reasonably satisfied, but I haven't identified a "color cast" but then again I don't look for one, and don't work in a real dark environment like yours seems to be in...

I am using the same monitor. I just allow my monitor to color calibrate itself. I certainly don't notice it. However, not that I deliberately look for it.

If it does not satisfy you, sell it and buy something which does satisfy you. And write a review about the NEC monitor posted on a review site, and warn others to look for this issue when they are shopping for a new monitor. NEC does make some great monitors, but it appears that this one isn't one of them!
