Hi,
I have Lightroom set to write XMP data into my JPEGs. Works great, does what I expect. However, when I open my JPEGs into Photoshop, what do I do if I want to edit the original image without adjustments? How can I easily get that back?

thanks,
teresa

Well, if you're using LR3 with CS5 (compatible Raw processors) you can open the jpeg in Camera Raw via Bridge and then just reset the settings -- that should work, I believe.

Or, you could open them back up in Lightroom and Reset, then again Save the Metadata, and that should work.

If this is going to be an ongoing part of your workflow, you might consider turning off the Save Metadata function so that Bridge can deal with an "unprocessed" photo.

I'm assuming here that you are not talking about images that Lightroom has Exported, but about original jpegs?

Oh, didn't think about the Camera Raw reset. I'll try that.

No, this won't be a standard workflow for me. I've edited some photos, small edits in Lightroom, and I like the effect. Someone has volunteered to help with additional touchup needed in Photoshop, but they want to work with the originals. Of course the originals have the xmp data, and when he opens it in Photoshop, he gets the image with the edits.

Overall though, I've liked the feature to write xmp changes to the JPEG.

Well try those things and let us know how they work -- I just have Raws and also have CS3 instead of CS5!
