It moves just a little around infinity and it is same for both MF and AF. Lens has never been dropped or anything. Any suggestions? What to expect if I send it to Canon? Thanks

Like the focus ring gets stuck and doesnt want to move? I had that issue with mine and sent it to Canon. Something internally broke and its getting caught. You'll need to send it for repairs.

yes it does move a little bit (not all the way from MFD to infinity). How much you had to spend?

It takes about 10 minutes to pull apart that lens and see whether it is one of the 3 cams stuck in their track. Most likely that is the problem, the focusing track probably has deflected out of shape.

bannedPermanent ban

One of the worst prime from canon, terrible build with oh so ugly bokeh.

Most likely a slight bump on the front that did it.

Lucky I got rid of mine before it dies ;)

Its probably stuck/jammed like TeamSpeed said.

My first copy did it about 3 months after I purchased it, and I never bumped the front of it.

..... Lens has never been dropped or anything. Any suggestions? .....

It's not an uncommon problem with this lens if you've been carrying it (bagged or otherwise) with the lens barrel extended. The guide in the focus helicoil acts as the stop and eventually shears off.
If you get it fixed then always position the focus away from the end of travel before packing it in your bag.

No, the 1.4 has some pretty strange bokeh, highlight halos, etc. This is why people tend toward the Sigma, amongst other reasons like build quality.
