Fun challenge, Lisa. Congrats to our winners.

My photograph took place at the base of the St. Louis arch. My family had just arrived in town for a week's holiday and took a late night stroll to see the gleaming beam. Lighting was very poor for shooting, but I managed to capture the shadow of two people sitting not too far away.

Half a tree? or so it says

Canon EOS 30D
24-105 f/4L
Focal Length 105 mm
Exposure Time 1/800 sec
Aperture f/6.3
ISO Equivalent 800

Shadows from nearby leaves falling on this trunk clearly read 1/2.

Congratulations teekay. A very moving photo. Congrats also to Jason and Mo. And thanks, Lisa, for the acknowledgement.

Congrats teekay! Well done phil, Jason, Maureen, et al.
This was a very difficult challenge for me. I checked back through hundreds of my shots and discovered that I just haven't been shooting shadows. Lots of reflections, but no shadows. Thanks to Lisa, it is now something I will be looking for in the future.

Garry............... May you pack two days of livin' into every day you're given.

Wow - thanks, lavanut! I hadn't expected to win this one given the number of fine entries. In particular I really liked philk's ingenious ring shot and airgfrogusmc's print-worthy adobe shadows.

I only got my 60D recently so have no portfolio of shots to draw on and have to go out and shoot new for each of these challenges, which is definitely challenging in winter. I was lucky this time when the sun came out one day low in the sky at just the right angle to make long shadows in our hillside cemetery.

Now I have to think up the next subject...... Will be posted tomorrow morning.
