Hi everyone -

I went to Stoney Point on Lake Superior for sunrise this morning, a place known world wide for professional level surfing - if you have the cahones to climb in during the winter when the waves are best. The waves were certainly coming in this morning, not the biggest Ive seen but enough to draw out several surfers. I don't have any lenses above 50mm so I didn't catch them actually riding, but just imagine being out there - better them than me!

As always, comments and critique are welcome and encouraged.

Beautiful images. I like the last two the most. Were you serious about people surfing there?

Wow, great shots! You can almost feel the force of the water. I'd pass on the surfing in water that cold though!

#3 is great, it almost catches you by surprise by how forceful the water appears.

Really nice shots. I like the use of the slower shutter speed on the water and the processing looks really nice.

I hope you didn't get wet cause it looks COLD!

It was definitely cold, but I like that kind of weather so it wasn't to bad. My exposed fingers and ears were happy to get in the warm truck when it was all done though.

Yep, I'm renting a 100-400 from a local shop so hopefully they'll be back out surfing some more...I'll post it if they're out again.

Terrific set! I like how you captured both the ice on the rocks and the motion of the water.
