NO CAMERAS INFOlVED (FORGET YOUR CAMERA !!!!!! )

when i look at people closeup i think i am doing about a f1.8 up to maybe a 2.8 .. Great stuff, the DOF is great.. i understand that..

BUT!!!! I was completely drunk tonight (And still am"Whatever!!!") So why, when i look at people/faces i have NO depth of field?? HIC HIC
Everything is in focus..... Please explain ??? !!

EOS 5Dmk3 X2, 60D, EF24-70mm f2.8L mk2, EF70-200mm f2.8L IS mk2, EF85mm f1.8, EF50mm f1.4, EF50mm f1.8 mk1(350D with 18-55mm Sh"kit" lens).

maybe since you have 2 eyes that see slightly different angles. if you cover one eye you may notice the DOF but since you have 2 eyes that see basically 2 different images your brain processes it and merges the image so you think that it is one continuous image without the DOF effect.

just a guess

Could be. If the sagfanter levenarf effect is in play, that makes perfect sense.

i look at DOF while talking to people all the time (sober). (In the corner of my eye) and there is a bokeh all the time...
But while drunk.... Nothing..

I'm sure alcohol lends to diffraction. You also might want to get your image stabilization checked out.

depth of field describes the area that is in focus...i don't know if it's cause you're drunk or not...but you're using the term backwards

Absolutely not. That is the minimum dress size (US) that you think still looks good when you are drunk.

Losing DOF is the reason why ugly people can breed.
