i think you're thinking everything is equally in focus...when in fact everything is equally blurred now...and you're just too drunk to know what in focus should look like...but if you were able to take an image with your eyeballs and then come back and look at it when sober you'd say "what the heck...nothing is in focus...where's my DOF?!?" :)

That's what we need - a drunk throwing sharp objects . . .

I assume, based upon OP's username, s/he is in the UK.

There, drunks throwing sharp objects is just normal.

It is just all blurry. It will make sense tomorrow.

Go play darts.

I almost spewed beer through my nose when I read this! No, I'm not drunk, this is my first one.

I was in the UK for a holiday a few years ago, and yes, I do believe this is quite normal. It's a hoot too.

Cheers!

I've done some processing after a few rum and cokes and looked at them the next day and was quite disappointed. I'm pretty buzzed right now and find this hilarious.

AN ATTEMPT AT A SENSIBLE ANSWER

When sober your eyes actually have very poor DOF, it is only because your brain is continually re-focussing them and filling in some of the missing information they appear to have an almost infinite DOF.

In fact as your brain is interpreting the information from your eyes it is only sampling the incoming information in pulses which is almost like turning the eyes on and off very quickly. Between the pulses you do not see anything. It has been calculated that over a normal day these gaps between pulses add up to about 2 hours, so you are in effect blind for 2 hours each day.

After a few drinks your brain becomes affected in a variety of ways, some senses are dulled and others heightened. The alcohol is having much more effect on your brain than your eyes and will be affecting the brain/eye pulse rate so you can't really trust your brain to interpret thing properly.

What this amounts to is that even when sober you can't really trust your eyes to see everything as it really is so once you have confused their processor (the brain) with alcohol you can get even stranger results.

NO CAMERAS INFOlVED (FORGET YOUR CAMERA !!!!!! )

when i look at people closeup i think i am doing about a f1.8 up to maybe a 2.8 .. Great stuff, the DOF is great.. i understand that..

BUT!!!! I was completely drunk tonight (And still am"Whatever!!!") So why, when i look at people/faces i have NO depth of field?? HIC HIC
Everything is in focus..... Please explain ??? !!

Due to having taken to many "shots", you have overheated your processor in your dual lens system plus your image stabilization which may be now out of whack has intoduced motion blur into your images.;)

Sometimes it's good to step back "carefully" I might add from your perceived problem and get a good nights rest and see if you can sort through it in the morning.

It's because you are looking at people through the bottom of your glass.

Solution: Refill glass.

You are artificially extending your DOF when drunk because you constantly sway forwards and backwards, left and right, and the brain averages all the extra DOF into one overall perception of the environment.

Making one larger circle of Confusion than normal ;)

Yeah, we Americans don't throw sharp objects. We use overgrown toy airplanes instead.

But, we do have English dart broads in many bars. What you'd call a pub.

Difference is, the kids there cannot use them. Until they have had a lot to drink. Then they think they can use them.

So, we have American dart boards. They're like darts with training wheels for a UK pub native. Huge bulge of points all on the outer ring.

I assume that OP is offline recovering from the loss of DOF.

I think that might better apply to Russians. What do you make of it?

Besides, depending upon the function, there's a pill for that. But if it lasts more than four hours, seek immediate professional attention. If in Amsterdam, it is not a problem. If not, well, a hospital may be in order.
