San Diego Surf - Blacks

I was able to shoot for an hour on Wednesday morning at Blacks as a morning meeting was cancelled. The swell tapered from the previous day but there were still some fun ones out there. Lugging my gear down the cliff was not fun and wish I would have brought my monopod vs. 055xprob but really liking the 400mm 5.6.

#1 is a cool shot. They're all good, but that one is well shot with good timing. Your pictures make me want to surf. I think I'll have to make a trip down to Blacks tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing.

I was actually bummed I didn't bring my board but a few sneaker sets pushed through and glad I was behind the camera. Surf should pick up tomorrow...get out there.

Thanks buddy...any hints on how to ensure not to focus on the white water? When I shoot from to to bottom (cliff/hill/etc.) it's not a problem but at beach breaks where I don't have any height I struggle at times.

Nice pictures again. Looks like it was really fun that day.

With regards to the not focusing on the white water, maybe using single center point for focus and focus at the lip. Probably easier said than done. Anyway keep the pics coming.

^^ Your 2nd shot you nailed it. Luv the color tone and if the surfer on the background was looking at him it would have been an excellent story to show. The 3rd one somehow hazy but it's there though don't get me wrong. You got that barrel just in time. Just stay on it and ride it through but I would just position a lil bit on the left side not to be center focus to get around the foamy water. Not a pro here and will never be...just addin' my .02 cents. Hope you can come down this year's US OPEN in HB. Would love to shoot with a fella POTN'r.

I really dig the perspective in the first shot, probably cuz it is something so different from Florida. Great shots.
