Ok, I am actively in the market for an event trailer and was looking online the other night at work. Anyway, my partner asked, "Why not use a smaller bus instead?" Well, I really didn't have an answer for him. So, here's what I was thinking and please be brutally honest in your opinions. I have not decided to go this route, but am merely entertaining the notion. Ok, here goes.........

A school bus is too big and the inside height is something to contend with. The up-side to a school bus is that they are relatively inexpensive. The downside is that they are large and will probably (read: almost certainly) be a hassle at an event.

Ok, then I was thinking about a transit/shuttle bus. I'm not talking about the ones on a Ford or Chevy chassis. I was thinking about the ones used in city transit. Yes, they do make shorter versions of those buses and are relatively inexpensive as well. The inside height of these are higher than school buses. This would also, in most cases, have 2 doors to accommodate traffic.

The inside of these vehicles would make it easy to covert them into a mobile office/viewing room.

Don't get me wrong, I am looking for a trailer and will, most likely, be building one in the next year or so. Yes, I know a bus wouldn't be ideal at some locations.

Ok, let me have it!

I couldn't say for sure but I would think that the overhead costs of operating (I'm assuming a well used bus) would be quite high compared to a trailer. Repairs would be costly and could cause you to miss events while a trailer would have far less need of repair and even if your tow vehicle broke down, you could always rent one to get you to where you need to go, therefore making a trailer more reliable. That's just the two thoughts that came to my head right away.

Excellent points. Fortunately, I know a diesel mechanic who takes real good care of our other cars as well. I know he can handle the big stuff. He used to maintain our charter bus for us. However, maintenance is something that will definitely come into play. Again, very good points.
