To me the color shows hot spots on her face and the lighting looks flat..

The b+w also looks flat too.

ya - as I said first attempt with beauty dish ... will now use rip nylon over beauty dish to soften the light - and get rid of the hotspots by correcting exposure on the skin ... no smile = aggravated, cause she had no chance/time to apply any make up - came straight in from sports practice - hence the few blotches on her skin ... minimal pp cause I wanted to get something up here so I can get some good constructive criticism - rip it to pieces - cause that's how we get better! ... thanks eh!

One little thing that will make a huge difference is moving the light more to her left side (camera right). The lighting as you have it emphasizes her cheek and jaw to the detriment of her more interesting features.

Agreed. Much better all the way around. Great job.

I've been thinking of picking up a Beauty Dish, and after seeing results like this after only a couple of tries, I may be getting one sooner.

I respectfully think you still need to play and understand how to use your BD.
Try to research on people using it properly and getting the right effect.
