I've never taken portraits before, my best friend is getting married and asked if I would take their save the date photos, I like the way they turned out considering it was my first time. There's a bunch of tiny details I think I missed though. Tell me what you think!

I have more to edit and there's more on my site.

the iphone shots are cute, the fist pose could be viewed as less than flattering to the btride.

I like the iPhone Photo's. That's a neat idea. Very good pics though, I would be happy with them if I was your friend

1. This is a little bight for my tastes (and I usually like things a bit bright). THe pose is also not the most flattering for the bride (showing a lot of rear end and thigh) and it almost feels like a crotch shot of the groom. Their emotion doesnt say "Yay, we are getting married", more of, "I am in front of a camera and dont know what to do!" The wb seems a tad warm too, but its hard to tell with it being a bit bright.

2. I wouldnt do a close up shot like this, especially with a curvy bride, and have her closer to the camera. I would put him up front, have her put her head on his shoulder and looking straight at me. This isnt flattering.

3. See how the brides skin tone looks completely different here than in the first 2. Inconsistent white balance cause by inconsistent exposure is the culprit. The pose is a bit cheesy, but sometimes that is what the client wants.

4. White balance is different again, but I like 4 and 5 the best. Cute ideas and pretty well executed.

Thanks for the input, good details to watch for next time. My main concern during this shoot was IQ and DOF. I have a tendency to over expose a bit. I had dinner with them and showed them the raws and how I edit them and they were very happy them, I let them choose the ones they wanted. I have no experience with poses so I asked them to act natural so at least when their friends and family see the photos they don't look contrived. They were cooperative test subjects and it was a lot of fun. They are both into cars and racing so i told them I'd get more photos of them at the Rolex 24 next week, while they're in their element. Should be less formal than this shoot, we'll see how that turns out. Thanks again

I like all but the first shot. That one is deeply unflattering for them both, I fear.
I think the iPhone shots are a great idea.

#1 is one of their favorites, they're considering using it for the invitations. Now that I've read your perspectives, that worries me. But we can always do another shoot. It didn't take long.

After, can't do much about the pose now. They actually like this image, so I've got to keep it.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

The first one looks MUCH better with the editing.

I wish the second one was a bit brighter.

The third image is a bit too bright.

I dont like the crop on the one just showing their face.
