Wetherlam and Swirl How, near Coniston. They're a bit dark.. I was up early :) Very hitech approach of G12 rested on a wall.

I know the second one looks HDR. It's not, honestly :)

Very unusual, not typical Lake District shots.

Both are very good, but the second one really stands out.

It's colours are superb, the composition in particular is rather unusual. There is a great deal of fence "clutter" which usually would be avoided. But there is something in the subtle light on the posts combined with the actual fence material being in shadow and broken up that is very effective.

Superbly done.

John.

Thanks :) I also think that the fence nicely represents the boundary between farmed and wild (which, of course, is precisely what it actually is, so no need for artistic licence or interpretation) and goes with the roller in that respect. In reality, I just couldn't find anywhere to rest the camera to get a shot without the fence..

Wasn't sure about the colours (as I've posted before, my colour vision is very poor indeed) but a few people have said now that it looks right, so it must do. Makes a change :)

Thanks again :) Was one of those occasions when I wish I'd still had the 30D, but all things considered the little G12 rose to the challenge admirably.

Nice to see dawn shots from the Lakes which are not from the ''honey pot ''locations well done on that score...id be tempted to lighten them just a little...if you loose all the atmosphere, and thats what your after in the image....leave them as is.

good work

Nicely done. The photographer makes more difference than the kind of camera.

That wall reminds me of the houses in that area with the dry stack walls. Beautiful area to visit.

Thanks all, I appreciate it :) The more I look at them both, the more I prefer the tone of the first one to be honest. Loved the warmth of the second one to start with, but the second one fits much more with the frosty morning that it was. In fact, I think the first one might be the first G12 image to get printed (we'll see how much difference the small sensor really makes with a 20 inch print).

And aye swalby, I did manage lighter versions from the raw files, but it was dark when I took them, so dark they're staying :)

My first thoughts were that 1&2 are a bit dark, but lightening them would probably spoil the feel of them. 2 works really well. Lovely images

With the colours been so subtle (which is of course appealing in its own right) id be tempted to go mono?

Just another opinion in the sea of billions
