I cant believe the prices on the Rebel series now. When I got my T2i back in Oct the T3i was 900 with the kit lens.

I'm a little bummed that I got the t3i only to see it depreciate this fast. It will do me fine for a while, but from now on I'll be buying the higher end bodies. Lesson learned I guess.

T3i, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 30 1.4, 18-55 kit, 55-250, YN-565, a few books, some software, and a desire to get good.....

I'm sorry, I really don't follow you and I hear this a lot from new photographers.

You bought a camera because it fit into your price range and I'm assuming you're OK with what it can offer you. If you aren't happy with what it can offer you should have never bought it, regardless of the price. Owning a 1dsIII / 1d4 / 5d2 won't make you any better of a photographer. Higher end bodies, if anything, drop faster in price, especially on the used market. The 1d (non S) series drops ridiculously fast used because it's assumed the people buying them are shooting sports, therefor they are in extreme weather shifts, rain, mist, snow, and have a million shutter clicks on them.

I agree, just because a camera is loosing its value doesnt mean its a "bad" camera. The t3i is a great camera. Like any other electronics the price always drops..never seen a piece of electronics ( TV's, Cameras, Audio, etc...) go up after its been released and been on the market for about a year.

Something I neglected to post additionally was, you don't buy a camera, or anything really, based on what it will be worth at a future date. I snowboard, run and have a road and mountain bicycle, each have consumable pieces and each decreases drastically in value after initial purchase and use. I enjoy all of them will never resell any of the pieces for even half of initial purchase. Photography is unique in that you can actually make money at it though...

I paid $675 in august for the t3i w/ 18-55, 55-250 and 75-300.

This also included me buying the printer, using all rebates. and selling the printer.

Just like buying a new car/truck. As soon as you drive off the lot, its already lost its value.
