Do I have a bad copy of the Sigma 17-50mm? Pics

After reading many reviews mentioning quality control issues of this lens, I think I've become paranoid with the focus and sharpness of my lens. Could you please take a look at my pictures and tell me if I have a bad copy or not? These were shot all handheld, jpgs all out from the camera, thank you.

Looks like it front focusing to me. MA your body to the lens and see if it helps.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Something needs adjustment, that's obvious.

All shots handheld, but I have a pretty steady hand. IDK what mirror lock is...

From the pictures I am looking at right now, they look fine. I have never heard of any problems with the 17-50.

Looks fine to me except the ones that were a bit soft (most likely from camera shake) at shutter speeds pushing the limits to handhold.

how do you determine whether a lens is back focusing or not?

There's nothing wrong with your lens. Now go out and enjoy.

"jpgs all out from the camera"

How were they resized, and were they sharpened for web? The images are so small that's it's hard to see clearly. But if you resized that small and didn't sharpen, then it's not surprising they look a bit soft. Some also look a bit underexposed to me (but I'm not on the best monitor right now) which doesn't help with sharpness.

Edit - oh well that might explain something. I assume you didn't process the images at all, and uploaded them straight to mediafire which then compresses and resizes them itself. The large versions for SOOC on a zoom look perfectly normal to me. Most images will need slight sharpening to make them really pop.
