I like to carry my camera while I walk the dogs, but my regular slingshot-style packs are not ideal when managing two leashes, and they don't hold the camera+lens combo I am likely to want to have ready-to-shoot.
I would like to have my 100-400 mounted to my T3i in a ready-to-shoot configuration (i.e. with hood mounted forward) for those wildlife/airplane shots that won't sit around and wait, and a second wide-angle lens that I can swap on for those vista-type shots (e.g. sunsets).
I want to have quick access without lots of fiddling, that's easy to walk around with if there is nothing useful to photograph. See something, take out camera for a few quick shots, return to bag, keep on walking.
The ThinkTank Digital Holster 30 seems appropriate for the camera+lens combo, but doesn't have an additional pocket for a lens, though I could get a separate-but-attachable lens case for that.
The Retrospective 10 and 20 seems not quite deep enough to have the lens hood on forward-facing. Not a big deal, but I am looking to minimize "fiddling about" time.
The LowePro Toploader Pro 75 AW also seems to be too small for the hood forward-facing.
Any other suggestions? Yeah, I know finding a holster/bag/pouch that holds a camera+100-400L with hood is not going to be small (gotta be 13" deep), but I'm wondering if there are other options beyond the TT Holster 30.
I assume if I go with the TT Holster I want the v2.0, since that supports the Modular attachments (i.e. lens case).
Thanks for any advice,
shinksma
