I am looking to rent a nice lens for the weekend for fun. It's not for anything specific and I tend to like a little of everything when it comes to photography.

So I am turning to you fellow forumites, which lens would you choose based purely on fun factor?

I am currently debating between a 135L f2, 85L f1.2, and 70-200 f2.8 II.

Feel free to throw in more suggestions!!

*I will be using it with a 5D classic

Good call. I actually thought about a fish eye. That would be fun.

Definitely something out of the ordinary. The lenses you mentioned, while very nice, are not abnormal.

Well, they require an abnormal amount of money for me to purchase Haha.

this would be my recommendation as well.... when I'm just going out to do some shooting for fun, 9 times out of 10, I'll grab my 8-16 Sigma (which wouldn't work on your FF... but something similar) .... I've also been tossing around the idea of renting a 17 or 24mm TS-E just to play with for a little while... I have no real need for one.. but I think I'd have fun with one for a few days....

Also, just to break the monotony of "normal" shooting, I've thought about renting an IR converted body for a weekend... just for fun... it's one of those things that I'd never want to own... but I could see myself having fun with one for a few days...

well i thought you were renting it! i am just agreeing with the other posts, tilt shift or fisheye or something like that. something that will expand your horizons rather than focus them more acutely like an L version of something you already have or whatever...

If I were you I'd get an 85mm 1.2 or a 50 1.2. Maybe a 35 1.4, but the manual focus 35 1.4s are relatively affordable.

I looove the bokeh of the 85L and 50L, definitely would try those out.

Other than a TS, the most beastly macro lens I could find. Just to see what it can do. And I never shoot macro.

Anything you wouldn't normally even think about using. You want this to be an eye-opener, right?
