Finally got a hole in the last 5 minutes of the game since the other photog left early. You can really see the difference compared to my other thread where I was posting shots shot through the glass. lol

That is awesome. I would like to take the camera to the Lacrosse games up here. But I don't have a big enough lens.

Trever Canon 7D, 24-70 F2.8L ii, Sigma 10-20 1:4-5.6 DC HSM, and a bunch of other little stuff to make light sorta work. Deviant (external link)

Yea. It was the end of the game, so most photogs already left, which is how I got to shoot through the hole. I had about 5 minutes in the hole. lol

Jaszek, glad to see you were able to shoot through a hole. Only a couple of things. The white balance looks a little off to me and your whites look a little yellow.

The biggest thing I have is that your shutter speed is beyond way to slow. My guess is you are shooting with a 70-200 at f/3.5 judging by your EXIF info. It looks like the lighting isn't as good as it is here in Raleigh but my settings are ISO 1600, SS 1/1000, and f/3.5. Yours are ISO 800, SS 1/250, f/3.5. Don't be afraid to bump that iso up. You need to over expose by about 2/3's of a stop to compensate for the white ice. These are all underexposed which scares me and looks like even at ISO 1600 you might be around 1/640-1/800 for shutter speed with your lighting. Should try this out next game and see if the results are a little better. No matter what try to keep that shutter speed above 1/500 and don't worry about noise because if you are overexposing, you won't see any.

My Gear:
Canon 1D Mark III / Canon 60D / Tokina 12-24 f/4 / Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC / Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC / Canon 300 f/4L / Canon 50 f/1.8 /

Thanks for the input. Hopefully, I'll get to sit at a hole earlier the next game. I'm probably going to a game next week. Didn't have time to change my settings a lot since before through the glass and I had to drop the shutter speed due to the loss of light from the glass. I'll try to shoot with your setting next time and see how that looks. And yes, the lights are MSG are not that bright for the cameras.
