Ooh, my favourite lady of them all and you captured her beautifully. Lovely shots, Dave.

Hard to choose a favorite amongst the first 3 Dave, they're all extremely nice.
She must have known you were there because she modelled very nicely for you.

Thank you. And yeah, right through the window from about 6 feet. Not sure how well they can see me through the window. If I keep still it doesn't seem to bother them.

Thank you K. We get one sunny day every 2 weeks during winter months in NE Ohio ... whether we need it or not!

Agree. It's my processing. I realize the trick is selective sharpening, but not yet up on that trick. ISO setting was probably only 320 so I've sharpened the BG into a noise situation.

Plus, my computer is struggling with storage space for very large files. These were exported to Flickr at no larger than 500k file size. They are ripping sharp and noise free as 1.5 - 2MB sized files as exported from PSE7 after processing.

Thanks for your observation ... and a good one at that.

Pretty is right Dave... I think the males are stunning, but the females have such beautiful hues... nicely done.

Female cardinals have such subtle coloring, hard to capture (for me, anyway) and you captured her perfectly.

Yes and with varying amount of reds/orange. Not sure if it's a 1st year vs mature thing but some can be a bit more colorful than others.

As soon as the weather turns really winterish, more come. Most I've counted around the feeders at any given time has been 4 pair males/females.

Thanks. And thanks for finally some GOOD light. These were fairly early in the morning on a rare sunny day in NE Ohio.
