Someone asked me for the color version of the photo I uploaded the other day. Here it is...

Those are quite nice! Unfortunate but still great captures.

Thanks! Smoke can do wonders for the colors of the sunset. Take what you can get from them I guess.

I'm still new with Photomatix, but I decided to try 3 exposures of my German Shepherd just to see if I could do it. It had been raining, and she had been rolling around in the wet grass. Crossing my fingers, I set 0, +2, -2 handheld with the 2 second self-timer. After merging, I sharpened in Photoshop Elements. Feel free to let me know what you think...good or bad!

The shadows are very dark and you've lost detail in her eyes and around the tip of her nose.

I hope you don't mind but I tried quick edit to open up those dark areas. Of course, it would have been better if the dark areas had been exposed for in camera.

Thanks ohhbekay, I did sharpen it some in photoshop elements.
navydoc, I don't mind the editing at all. I did a similiar edit, but if took away the black and tan look, and made her look more like a sable. I tried to lighten the eyes, but you did a much better job than I did.

EDIT: After reviewing the original images, I realized she closed her eyes during one of the exposures. That probably contributed to the dark eyes. The correctly exposed photo is not that dark. I will post it in the "Show me your German Shepherd" thread in the pet section.

Trying out the "tone compressor" instead of the normal "details enhancer"

Have not posted much. Been playing with handheld three exposures. Image is Cape Hatteras Marina. Comments are always welcome.

I am beginning to enjoy this. I just choose the predefined settings. C & C welcomed.

Hopefully, there is someway that I can get my 7D & 5D2 to bracket more than 3 shots for HDR.
