I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine there's THAT much theft going on in airports by TSA agents. In terms of airport theft, I'm sure you're far more likely to have your camera stuff stolen behind security while eating/playing on your phone/etc than by an agent from a checked bag.

I don't check my camera or other electronics, but that's due to not wanting them to be broken when bounced around.

Any small personal electronics, I would definitely keep on me all the time while flying. Mainly so I have peace of mind that it won't get damaged by the rough handling.

I've never considered doing it any differently. My pack with my camera gear and 17" laptop stays with me all the way.

Same here. The odd questions are almost worth it alone - I had my 80-200 with me and the security guy asked me what I used it for

anything of value or delicate = carry on.

in Munich, security checked cameras. we had to turn them on and take a photo to prove that they were indeed cameras. all lens caps were taken off and aperture opened to see that it was indeed a lens. My friend went first, they went through his 5dmkii. My turn, they saw my cheapo Nikon and didnt bother to hassle me... =)
