I would turn on the borders for the pictures, helps to isolate them from the back ground color. As far as the background color goes, it seems a bit communist country grey.
they should be turned off, but i'll double check them, if your referring to the ones with the black borders, those ones are hard coded into the image that i forgot to remove. that has been added to my list of changes to make, and any suggestions for a new color scheme?

You've got some nice work there, but I'm not a fan of either the way the display routine opens a white field the size of the previous picture viewed, then resizes it to match the new picture and finally gets around to putting the picture up, or of having to go back to the main gallery screen to look at the next photo. So, pretty much I think the annoyance factor would deter me from looking at many of the photos there.
ETA: Oh, yeah. I'd prefer to see the thumbnails reflect the shape of the image, or at least square. Sorta spoils the look of a portrait-orientation image to crop it to a landscape thumbnail and might cost you some views of some of the images.
For instance
thank you.
in regards to the image pop up, i don't think i can change that at all, i just started using jquery so i will look around and see if i can or not. you would think i would be able to. in regards to having to click back to view the next image that is on my list of things to do, to have the entire gallery be viewable once you select a photo.
and the reason the thumbnails all the same size is they weren't lining up correctly to be uniform throughout the site, i suppose i could use a fill border for the portrait ones. i do know what your talking about and actually totally forgot to fix that. thank you again for reminding me about that.
