Good midweek party last night?

How are the boys?

I'm off the sauce for a while in an attempt to defluff but I'm one of those folks that has trouble sleeping. The boys are great. They will both be in school this fall. Aidan in 1st grade but in a class that has both first and second graders. Ian will be going half days in pre k.

How do you destroy a work bench with a stuck case? And yeah, lube, lube, lube. Did you polish the brass? Dirty brass sticks more than polished cases.

I didn't realize you were reloading nor did I realize you could reload over there.

I have an ultrasonic cleaner that really cleans the brass and the primer pocket the press was not mounted on a strong bench, I was in a hurry lost concentration and put a dry case into the die it stuck solid, I put all my weight on the handle and the bench gave way, weak bench and fat boy don't mix.

Reloading is not an issue over here, as long as you have the tickets, its a bit more complicated for me as I use expanding ammunition so all the bullets (heads) have to be recorded on my firearms certificate.

I have today bought a much more sturdy workbench.

Oh, gotcha. A sturdy bech is a must.

Neat on the ultrasonic cleaner. I am old school and when I was still loading regularly used a vibratory cleaner with corn media. I would also put a bit of Molybdenum disulfide powder in with some corn media and touble all my bullets until they were coated. It completly eliminates copper fouling.

You may know this trick but if you don't it's a good one. Measure your chamber with a chamber gauge. When you seat your bullets seat them so they are just a hair shorter than your chamber. This will put the bullet almost in contact with the lands when the round is chambered. It reduced my group size by probably 35%. The down side is your bullets won't fit in the magazine and you have to chamber them one at a time.

Some guys I know do that, I am getting 1" or under at 100 yards which is fine for foxes and deer so I don't get as anal as some of the bench testers and target guys that I know.

Most of my hardware is Hornady which is quality, I use Federal primers, Hurnady bullets and Vihtavuori powders.

Liberally edited (and a decent imagination), you both sound naughty.

I only got so detailed for bench shooting. I use factory ammunition to hunt with.

Heather, I'm about 45 miles north of SF. What are you going to be doing up this way?

I am taking a Disney Cruise that will leave San Pedro on Oct. 7th and arrive in SF on Tuesday, and we leave Wednesday night. My friend and I are thinking about doing Alcatraz and the Disney Family Museum while we are there.

If you're going to do Alcatraz, it is highly recommended you make reservations in advance. The Disney Museum is about 4 miles from where your ship will dock. Early October is a good time to be in SF. It's not as foggy that time of year.
