My only suggestion would be to move. There are lots of places in this country, many not far from the city, where kids are still taught values, honesty, and respect.

As far as the three trouble makers today they should be sited for every infraction until they are expelled or over step their bounds and get themselves locked up for the first time in their criminal careers. Is there any sort of programs that help you financialy to place her in private school?

They are actually trying to push school choice and cover private school education. In many cases they found this cheaper then paying for the public school education.

So how do you control kids that are out of control and are immune from any sort of punishment?

My wife works for the local school district and was asked to help till the end of the year at the after school program for middle school children from 6-8th grade. She thought this would be an easy task as she has worked with plenty of young kids (primarily pre-school thru 3rd grade). Today 4 kids were out of control disrupting the entire program and stealing 3 adults from supervising the entire group of kids. The kids were running around the school disrupting other activities such as basketball, and wrestling screaming expletives the entire time. We are talking F-bombs here.

The children when confronted would only talk back and throw out the what are you going to do about it. Theses kids know that nothing will be done as the system can not throw them out. Parents were called, and most just said I'm working, I can't do anything now. To find out that one students mother was called by the teacher, basketball coach and principal earlier in the day. Also doesn't help that the student is already taller then those in charge (mostly being women). My wife's supervisor was becoming frazzled and coming close to breaking down, I think these kids live for this form of control and confrontation. My wife does not back down so easily and stands her ground and told them to wait in the entrance till a parent showed up. She tried to physically move the one student and he exploded with don't f- touch me with a slew of other expletives. He knows he is right, she can't even guide him in the right direction. He stood near the door and came up with he needs to use the bathroom. He was denied his request and preceded to unzip his pants to urinate on the floor. My wife told him to go ahead as the police would be called.

The other students mother said she would be right over, but wound up being one of the last people to show up. She also had no interest in hearing anything that the baby sitters had to say as she already had a long day.

These kids will be a drain on the system for many years to come, they will also be the neighbor nobody wants to live next to. It's a real shame that kids are so protected, and those in charge are the ones being controlled.

I bring this up as my daughter enters middle school next year. These kids will eat her alive if she can't manage to make herself invisible.

That is crappy that Becca had to deal with that kind of stuff. Sounds like those parents should have been neutered years back, or at least take a stance against there kids.

Did you see the father's video response to a facebook post his daughter did, complaining about how tough she had it? I shared it a short while ago on facebook.

If it is often like what Chet described, I would agree. Lots of good places to live with better values abounding.

I feel for her, she brought all these projects to the program thinking the kids would be jazzed to participate. She was even going to reward with small gift cards for those completing the projects. She was pretty much laughed in the face.

I do have to say, a few do wreck it for the others that are from decent stock. Though I must say the percentage is quickly diminishing on the good stock kids.

Yes I remember it. I worry so much for Madi, she is a very good kid. And when I see 10 year olds hanging themselves because they can't take it any more I really break down. I thought I had it rough in school, and back then you just had to survive high school.
My kids never have seen us drunk, we don't keep alcohol in the house, we don't smoke, we don't swear, we look out for our neighbors. We are pretty clean cut compared to our surroundings. Becca brought up her very small town in rural PA, and then back tracked saying all the kids drink, and the men have no work ethic. Woman are also considered baby makers. You can't win.

Another aspect I heard from a parent that moved into a "nicer" neighborhood was that her daughter was put down for not having all the "stuff" that comes along with having money. So the kid was miserable and picked on constantly for being "poor".

Yeah I saw that, laughed, then cringed a little just because of the use of the pistol. It just sends an odd message or something. He could have killed it in a way that is more digestible by the general public.
I always got the message "you have no toys, we just let you play with them"

In Virginia, where my niece lives, they lend a hand to parents when kids get their driver license. The parent and child go before a judge in a court room and the judge gives the parent the license and tells them both that the license is the parents and they can revoke it at any time until the age of 18.

Kids seem to think they have so many rights now days that parents are left few options with a kid willing to push them around. Then again what do I know, I opted for fur kids.

Nice does not mean wealthy. There are a lot of small low income blue collar areas with great ethics and lifestyle.

I have a lot of respect for teachers, especially those that teach at the middle school or high school level. I wouldn't have the patience to put up with kids like that... I'd be liable to do something that would get me fired, or worse, arrested...

Heather's father is a high school teacher in a rural district in Arizona where the main employer is a copper mine. Few of the kids want to learn and the parents are no help. They figure that they got a good job at the mine with little education so why should the kids go to school. I doubt Heather's father gets much crap from the kids, though. He's a former Navy SEAL...

Not to say there are not civil kids in the city but the schools tend to have a tougher student base.

<-------------Product of D.C. public institutions they call school.

That^^^^ all I can say is either try and get her in a private school if you can. They have a bit more say in discipline.... OR move to a small town somewhere. Small town schools are a bit better. Not saying totally better, but they have less students to try and control... especially farm towns. In my experience farm or orchard towns, the families are raised to work hard and respect parents etc... and they aren't rich, mostly just hard workers that are underpaid. I know that may not be an option for you, but maybe if you can find something like a small town within decent driving distance to a big city... so you can find work. Just my 2 cents.

Hahahaha! I found this.... I am the scrawny kid with the exposed knee second from viewer's left. Behind me and to the right in the yellow shirt is Marget, she became stunningly beautiful. On the far end opposite me, the mousy girl in red, that's Missy. *sigh* I had an uber crush.

Only seven hundred? I have over 8000 slides alone, not to mention who knows how many negatives...

That's all that survived, anyway. I don't know if there were more. I only found the one bag full of slides when we were cleaning out his closet after he died.

I have a bunch of slides and negatives of my own, too. Once I'm done scanning in my dad's slides, I might go back through my old slides and negatives and see what's there. I'm especially interested in the ones from my high school days when I was taking photography classes.

Well at least it was until I read this story (external link) about the Arizona Humane Society.
