Gumby, what software did you use to process? The subject is fine but the HDR end result needs some improvement. We can offer some critique if you wish.

The first one has some pretty pronounced halo-ing, and for me it looks a little over-saturated. That may be the look you are going for. The second seems to have some 'reverse halo-ing' going on around the edges of the trees. The saturation looks better to me though. Thats a beautiful tree in the second.

thanks I'm going to try another go with these and see what I get.

I agree that the tree is an amazing tree. the branches are so big that they have put concrete blocks up and under sections to help support them. There are a total of 4 concrete blocks supporting branches you can see one in the image above to the right. And I'll definitely be going back to get more images of the tree.
