Attempt to photo a black dog, post yours...

My first attempt at trying to photo a friend's black, with white dog.... very difficult in low light so used a speedlite.

So here's Alfie... a Shichon (Bichon - Shih Tzu Cross)

Marc, Alfie is just too cute!
I'm w/Rick about the red collar/leash; I like that it adds color, but I'm not sure if it's a distraction or not. A point to ponder for sure.
As much as I like close ups, and I do, I think you either need to crop more closely around just the head/neck or crop less and include the top of the head. Nitpicky maybe, but that's my opinion. If you'd really like a challenge put Alfie on the whitest white bgrd you can find..I think that'd have awesome potential.
